LOAD - Metallica (TAB+MP3)

LOAD - Metallica (TAB+MP3)

Load is the sixth album by American heavy metal band Metallica, released in June 1996. It has sold over 5 million copies in the US as certified by the RIAA. After the 14 million copies of The Black Album sold in America, the 5 million Load sold was somewhat of a disappointment commercially.

The album marked the band's return to the musical landscape, approximately five years after the release of their international smash success, Metallica. Load saw the band embrace a collective sound and identity far removed from their thrash metal roots. As on previous releases, the fourteen songs that would eventually make up the album began as rough demos created by principal songwriters James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich in Ulrich's basement recording studio, "The Dungeon." The band took over 30 demos into The Plant Studios in the spring of 1995 where they would work for approximately the next year. Once again, Metallica teamed up with famed producer Bob Rock, who had been at the helm during the recording process for Metallica.

The songwriting dispenses almost entirely with the thrash metal style that characterized the band's sound in the 1980s. In place of staccato riffs, Hetfield and lead guitarist Kirk Hammett experimented with more blues-based tones and styles. Ulrich adopted a minimalist approach to his drum recording, abandoning the speed and complex double bass patterns of previous albums. Hetfield displayed a lyrical evolution as well, writing what many feel to be his most personal and introspective lyrics. "Until it Sleeps," the album's lead single, addressed his father's losing battle with cancer, while "Mama Said" explored his relationship with his mother. All of this marked a departure from the political and social overtones of albums like ...And Justice for All.

Kirk Hammett continues to bring not only a dazzling array of lead guitar parts to Metallica's music but also some savage rifferey, having started sharing 6-string duties with James during the 'Load' era. He is happily married to Lani, and lives in San Francisco along with a large collection of old Hollywood movie memorabilia, his two dogs Darla and Hoku, plus cats.......Oh, and for the record, Kirk plays his guitar at least 361 days a year.

....Listen, learn his unique technique...Enjoy (TAB GUITAR INCLUDED)

Ride the Lightning - METALLICA (TAB GUITAR+MP3)

Ride the Lightning - METALLICA (TAB GUITAR+MP3)

Ride the Lightning is the second album by American thrash metal band Metallica, released on July 27, 1984 by Megaforce Records and re-released by Elektra Records on November 19, 1984. It has sold over 5 million copies in the U.S. alone.

Ride the Lightning is often hailed by fans as a classic of the thrash metal genre, and a vital bridge between the band's albums Kill 'Em All and Master of Puppets, pushing the thrash metal of the debut into progressive territory more fully-realized on Master of Puppets and ...And Justice for All.

Ride the Lightning retains the speed of Kill 'Em All on songs like "Trapped Under Ice" and "Fight Fire with Fire", but also contains the first of Metallica's longer, more symphonically arranged tracks, such as "Fade to Black" and the nearly 9-minute closing instrumental "The Call of Ktulu".

Ride the Lightning was listed at #3 on a list compiled by metal-rules.com of the Top 100 Metal Albums of All Time and #5 by IGN Music on the Top 25 Metal Albums.

The album included melody, maturity and musical intelligence. It was these traits which helped them broaden metal's scope.

With this album Metallica confirm their total control on Thrash Metal and their consolidation like an international band. In this album the band members were fully adapted to each other and make a more mature and considerably better musical album. The lyrics of this album are also better than in the last one, they do not speak now about headbanging, blood, and those things, in "Ride The Lightning" they speak about personal problems like in 'Fade To Black' inspired by the theft of band's equipment. Other tracks are inspired by H.P. Lovecraft and the movie 'The Ten Commandments' like 'Creeping Death'.

RELOAD - Metallica (TAB+MP3)

RELOAD - Metallica (TAB+MP3)

The album Reload is essentially the tracks that were not finished from the Load sessions, at the time the band had planned to make Load a double album but after a lengthy stay in the studio they decided to split it up over two albums. The band insisted that these weren’t Load rejects and claimed that these songs were of a more extreme nature either heavier or mellower that needed more time spent so they decided to leave them for this album.

Kicking off with the bombastic Fuel, the album immediately announces itself as a “don’t fuck with this” type of affair. Memory bares another side of the met with an interesting choice of guest vocals by Marianne faithful (renowned for her escapades involving Mick Jagger and a mars bar!!) that offset the often-unrealised heaviness and greatness of the song. Devils Dance is a mother of a song, with a bass heavy grove underlying the entire journey with monstrous vocals throughout.

Up next we have an astonishing ballad in the form of the Unforgiven II, more than a reworking of the original with a character of its own whilst still being underpinned with the melody of the first from the Black Album. This track is immensely deep and powerful, an awesome track, and in an equal for the already acclaimed Unforgiven released some six years previous to this offering.

It’s hereon that some hardcore Metallica fans have had some issue. Although the whole album is awesome it isn’t perhaps up to the standard we had come to expect, although when the standard is as high as it is, that’s always going to be difficult. Tracks like Better Than You, Slither, Prince Charming are all great tracks that blast out of the speakers without apology and have real melodic undertones that give the songs added depth, however at 13 tracks long some of these mid album tracks somewhat merge into one idea rather than having identities for themselves, with perhaps the exception of Where the Wild Things Are (co-written by Jason) that has a great feel and melody.

As far as the latter part of the album goes my section is Low Mans Lyric, Attitude and the mighty album closer Fixxxer. Low Mans Lyric is a very brave song that got greeted with some hostility by elements of the fan base. A very personal track that James Hetfield’s amazing voice delivers for us better than we could ever hope for, an amazing track, the no holds barred stomp of Attitude takes us to a different place, before the perfect Fixxxer takes us to the end. The epic quality of Fixxxer is incredible, amazing riffs and lyrics make this one of the best Load/Reload era tracks (strictly in my opinion of course), a perfect way to round off the 'tallica’s most experimental period to date, and a very successful period at that.

Although many don’t consider Reload the greatest, it is certainly an immense record in its own right. As Kerrang magazine claimed, “Metallica cruising is better than most bands firing on all cylinders” a perfect description if ever there were.

ReLoad is the seventh album by American heavy metal band Metallica, released in 1997. It is the direct counterpart to their 1996 album, Load. Over 3 million copies have been sold in the US as certified by the RIAA.

Kirk Hammett:
Hammett was invited to join Metallica following the dismissal of the band's original lead guitarist Dave Mustaine in 1983. This was prior to the release of Kill 'Em All. At the time Hammett was taking private guitar lessons from the now-famous Joe Satriani. In 2002, he became the first inductee into Guitar World magazine's "Hall of Fame".Though he is primarily Metallica's lead guitarist, Hammett has written and contributed riffs for Metallica songs since the mid-1980s (particularly in the 1990s during the Load era). One of these riffs, used in "Enter Sandman", was written in a hotel room at 3:15 am, and became one of Metallica's most popular songs. It was the first track and first single on Metallica's self-titled "Black Album" and was ranked 399th on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest songs of all time. Also the riff for "Creeping Death" was originally an Exodus riff that Kirk took with him to Metallica. Kirk has often been criticised[citation needed] for his extensive use of the wah-wah pedal in his solos, but he insists, "The wah-wah is an extension of my personality". He also once said, "They'll have to cut off my leg if they want me to stop using the wah-wah pedal". Kirk wanted to have guitar solos on Metallica's 2003 album, St. Anger, but drummer Lars Ulrich and producer Bob Rock thought that the solos did not sound right in the songs. He later himself admitted, "We tried to put in solos but they sounded like an afterthought so we left them out".

Thanx to Hippie2010 for the TAB
